Imaging 3
A required course devoted to digital imaging.
Course description:
This course affords students the opportunity to create an extended body of work using the imaging software previously learned in Imaging II. Students will investigate a variety of image-making possibilities that are enhanced by the use of digital tools. Emphasis will be placed upon conceptualizing and executing projects within this new framework. What makes digital different? What shifts in thinking might be suggested? Advanced aspects of scanning, Adobe PhotoShop, QuarkXpress and Illustrator will be covered as well as an introduction to html. Additional technical options will be discussed for large format printing. Students will have access to the Department’s archival printers as well as to the one at the ITS labs. The majority of the semester will be spent completing a self-designed project. Class time will be divided between work-in-progress sessions, critiques, and lectures.
