Web Design
An elective course that teaches both net art and graphic design for the web.
Course description:
This course combines theory and practice as it pertains to designing projects for the web. We will investigate what it means to work in this ever-changing environment and how the language of the internet might influence the work we make.
This course will explore conceptual approaches to the web as well as interface design, graphic design and practical matters such as html and image compression. In addition to small weekly assignments, students will design and execute an online portfolio and a self-directed web art project. Students will also participate in a class blog and create an archive in a digital photo-sharing website.
There will be a mid-term and final review but projects themselves will flow throughout the semester.
